Based on County's building history, overruns could easily push this project to $3,000,000.00 or higher. (The substation building in Bailey ran 100% over budget, according to professionals involved in the construction planning.) At that rate of $3,000,000.00, the cost of this county building will be a whopping $351.00 per square foot. The building will be three or more times as large as what is likely needed for their original stated goals. The commissioners have not explained to the public how they will use the additional square footage.

They added a discussion with DOLA regarding the duties of a Chief Administrative Officer since Sandi Berryman retired. At the regular meeting, the BOCC will take time to celebrate getting the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting which is awarded to many states, cities, school districts and counties that apply for it. The award is given to those governments that publish an easily-readable and efficiently-organized financial report, according to the State of Colorado. The State receives its own annual award. The commissioners will also discuss distribution of funds to the shooting association, the contract with the architect on the new building, and supplemental appropriations for the 2010 and 2011 budgets.
