Not only did the clerk appear to ignore voters' complaints, but she consciously put the same party in a position to invade the privacy of voters again. Our county clerk may not believe you have the right to a secret ballot.

Editorial Note: On the county website, as of November 20, 2008, Commissioners haven't gotten around to publishing their 2009 budget that shows the millions in deficit spending planned for next year. They may not want the taxpayers to easily see what they're going to throw away in 2009. Or the first budget passed might just have been for show to get Tighe reelected and has since been completely changed. To quote our Finance Department, "We don't have to publish these financial reports on the website at all if we don't want to. We can make [the public] go pay for paper copies at the library."

The clerk's people may have to tear off a stub in some instances, but they do not have to take your ballot out of a privacy sleeve and read it in order to do that. Park County Clerk Debra Green has taken no public action nor made any public apology for the intrusions voters experienced during the primary election in August for which several complaints were filed.
