Post Welcome to the Park County Forum and Bulletin Board
.
The Forum access became such a popular resource in the 2007-2008 election cycle that it needed to be updated and expanded in response to broad requests from the public. With new software and features, and more volunteer management help, we hope the popularity will continue to expand. The goal is to further serve the taxpaying, voting public as we broaden public information and investigation of issues.

For those county officials and others close to the county government who wrote to the Park County Bulletin cheering what they thought was the disappearance of such a forum, your arrogance and hypocrisy are evident. When it served the purposes of your current officials - Leni, John and others - you strongly supported all aspects of the Park County Forum, especially when the opinions of posters criticized your opponents. Now that you are opposed, you imply that the opinions of these citizens is an embarrassment and not credible. I'm sure they'll be pleased to hear that.

Now that you are the ones criticized and scrutinized, you suddenly say that the forum and the Bulletin are both worthless or worse. And it's telling that our county government seems unable to distinguish between news and community opinion. But that does tell us how far behind the times they are or assume that the public is. Documentation is not opinion. Especially when they are your own government documents. No contradiction of fact has been received.

For some county official(s), their attitude toward the taxpaying public is, "Sit down and shut up! You're too stupid to have an opinion!" Sources close to the county administration report hearing that behind-the-scenes quote from at least one of our officials talking about public comment time.

We feel that public scrutiny is critical to keep what appears to be a runaway and possibly abusive government under watch to some degree. After talking with some of the new people, we don't anticipate a big change with the new commissioners.

These pages include citizen opinions and they need and deserve expression. The county has only one weekly newspaper. It covers standard news well and effectively handles the paid legal publications of the county government. But there isn't room there for everything and they also don't have unlimited resources or interests. People should be made aware of information and documentation that gives rise to questions about county management. We have plenty of room. And we invite the county citizens to provide resources, tips, documents, and comment whether anonymously or openly. Interested readers can use them to further research or consider the issues at hand to the extent they, themselves, find the leads reliable.

Government has the power to encourage their employees in certain directions and cover their actions in order to present a certain appearance. If they rely too much on non-objective advice, they may subject the whole county to conflicted turmoil. The government controls the jobs and pay raises of those in charge of the information. The public must be afforded some opportunity to object. Otherwise, the bullies have the only voice.

So welcome aboard or welcome back. We will make sure the 'CIA' representative can find us now and we hope, with some unrealistic optimism perhaps, he will learn more respect for the members of his community.

(Congratulations to those of you who found the new forum from the links, memberships, and migration information. We always knew you were smart.)

If the goal is for the popularity of the forum to continue to expand, wouldn't it make sense to bring back the forum access from the navigation menu that folks have been used to for years, rather than make them search for a way to get here? :-^

Thank you for your visit and comments, jf1aca. Management has decided to handle inbound access in a slightly different way with the Park County Colorado Community Opinion Forum and Bulletin Board. There are a number of links leading to the site that should be easy to find. The alert box is up and running on the Park County Bulletin web pages along with other channels.

I see you found it, as have most others. ;) Thanks for dropping by.

Good to see you AnnieOakly! It's all here, hopefully. It just became a big project and needed to be converted. Nobody took it away. All of the work for this forum is done by volunteers and there is no income. It always takes out of pocket investment and time. But we think it's very important so people like you and others can keep in touch with the community and share experiences and opinions without advertising an identity.

We know something about how the 'Good ol' Boys' and 'Good ol' Girls' operate.

By the way, isn't it funny how the paper keeps reporting that Walker was leaving office because she was "term limited" out? As though the voters had nothing to do with that. She asked the voters in 2004 to take off the term limits so she could stay indefinitely. But the voters turned it down overwhelmingly (about 2 to 1) and gave a whopping 42% of their votes to the very liberal unknown opponent against her even back then. According to people inside, that's when she really got mad. We the taxpayers have been punished ever since.

She's out because the voters were smart about not giving the big spenders too much power for too long. And they may not be able to do much about the hidden manipulations, but they can recognize it when they see it. When people are in office too long they get too good at gaming the system.

Voters need to think about that long and hard before the next election.

Thanks Jordan, I found it (forums)

I think that people within our County that know the truth about our little stupid "Good ol' Boyz" government, have just given up temporarily. They know how to manipulate the law in their favor. We're going to have to let Bigger Government break up the mess in Fairplay. Someday karma will get them, they'll slip up somewhere, piss off the wrong person to where there will be a great implosion!!! Can't wait!!! We citizens are being lied to so much.

I agree with you AnnieOakley. People in the know are just planning. We have a very important election coming up starting in a year and we need more information and a solid plan. After every election are the holidays and winter to deal with so things quiet down some. But more needs to be done and filed.

We really need people who know the inside info to bring it out and inform others. That's the best way to get this to work. We have to put together as much in the record as possible. Most people don't have time to go look at things and understand them so the rest of us have to work harder to get facts out and make them understandable.

The people in this county don't realize how badly they've been manipulated and cheated and a lot of the people responsible are still there costing us money for nothing.

They don't have a government. They have a giant Conflict of Interest Club supported by our money while they provide no service at all. Greedy bunch of power freaks. One of the biggest freaks is no longer in office, but that doesn't mean we're not still paying the damages. The people who carried the water are still up there doing the same thing in the dark behind the manure pile.

Have to get rid of the clerk as a priority. We won't know any elections are good until that happens and we get somebody with some credibility in there.
:x

The government can't shut us down unless they finally succeed in setting up the monarchy that Walker started. It isn't like the licensed radio where the national loons are trying to shut down talk radio. How did the elected people get to the place where they don't care about the county or its people any more and just think we're here to give them everything they want. I couldn't believe the Sheriff would let that kind of junk go on from his own officers.

But I REALLY REALLY LIKE the NEW FEATURES here and look forward to starting work on watching the county for the new year and next election.

NEVER GIVE UP!!

Image

NEVER GIVE UP!!

Two frogs fell into a can of cream
Or so I've heard it told
The sides of the can were shiny and steep,
The cream was deep and cold.

“0 what's the use,” croaked Number One,
‘Tis fate; no help around.
Goodbye my friends, Goodbye sad world!”
And weeping still he drowned.

But Number Two, of sterner stuff
Dog paddled in surprise
The while he wiped his creamy face
And dried his creamy eyes.

“I'll swim awhile, at least,” he said—
Or so I've heard he said;
“It really wouldn't help the world
If one more frog were dead.”

An hour or two he kicked and swam,
Not once he stopped to mutter,
But kicked and kicked and swam and kicked,
Then hopped out, via butter!

/o\
