Park County Offices to Adopt New Schedules
On January 4, 2010, the Park County offices will have new business schedules. Offices in both Fairplay and Bailey will operate from 7 am to 6 pm Monday through Thursday. They will be closed for business on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The County Commissioners discussed the possible schedule change with employees and elected officials as a means to help address increasing budget constraints. After much deliberation, most agreed that they could re-arrange the workload to accommodate the change. While some essential services such as the sheriff’s department will continue to work the current schedules, most employees will work four ten-hour workdays.
It is believed that closing office buildings for an extra day in the week may help to cut expenses during a time when the county is experiencing a drop in income - without having an overall drop in services, since offices will be open to serve the public longer on each workday.

Libraries Hours Will Not Change
At this time, there has been no decision to change the current Park County library schedules.

Recently, the county quietly removed the language on their main website pages that excluded the Sheriff's Office from the new schedule. Their administrative offices have also been closing on Friday without public notice from the county that the status was changing to include them. Since they have to keep a facility open in both Bailey and Fairplay to accommodate continued law enforcement, the financial benefit from just closing the administrative room would be minimal or none.

The public was clearly told that the Sheriff's Office would be fully staffed for administration five days a week and then their schedule appears to have changed without notice.
