Anyone know why They are chewing up so much of the hillside for this?

Because it's a government operation? Hell, I don't know. Ask Leni. She's the expert on screwing up construction projects, isn't she?

My assumption: Since they are moving the interchange a little south, closer to the peak of the hill, they need some room on the Burland side to construct an exit ramp to PC-72.

The rock is providing fill - you will see the fill building up the new road by the old ball field - if they didn't get local fill, they would need to truck in fill and the project cost would go up dramatically.
FYI - you can't blame Leni for anything with this project - it is run by CDOT not the county.

Oh darn, Local. It was just a joke. And she did have a lot to do with the effort with CDOT on their projects - anything to do with coordination on roads. The county has to be involved as the intersection involves county roads and access.
Anyway, I was poking fun at Hill because he's so fond of our government.
Really.

Re: Crow Hill Progress
This project should not have been done because it was totally unnecessary. But with that said, they are doing a good job keep traffic running with as big a mess as this is. It's hard to keep things organized in that situation. So shame on the tax spenders and kudos for the people on scene running the project.
