According to sources close to emergency services, North Park County Ambulance will no longer be operating in the Platte Canyon District. In the process of calling meetings to review the license status of the Service, Park County Commissioners reportedly discovered that the license had already expired and no review was necessary.
Sources say the license expiration went unnoticed by the county possibly for a period of months. (Developing)
Platte Canyon Fire Department is in a good position to pick up the service and license within a short period of time, according to our sources. Elk Creek ambulance will respond to medical calls in the meantime. It is unknown what delay might occur because of the increased distance required for Elk Creek to travel, but Platte Canyon Firefighters will still respond on both fire and medical emergencies locally as they always have.
Platte Canyon Volunteer Fire Department is not professionally affiliated with North Park County Ambulance. Both fire and ambulance respond together on many emergency calls and the fire department provides a free lease agreement allowing the Ambulance Service to use a bay in Platte Canyon Fire Station #2.
