Press Release from Colorado State Patrol
James Davis, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Safety, has named Lieutenant Colonel Scott Hernandez to be Interim Chief of the Colorado State Patrol. The appointment will remain in effect until a process is developed and completed to select the next Chief.
"Colonel Hernandez has served Colorado's residents for 26 years during his career with the Colorado State Patrol and the Colorado Port of Entry. I am confident that his experience and leadership will serve him well in guiding the Patrol during this transitional period," Davis said.
Colonel Hernandez began his career with the Colorado Port of Entry as an officer in April 1987 before joining the Colorado State Patrol in January 1991. He served as a Trooper in Golden and Gilpin County, Corporal in Idaho Springs, Sergeant and Captain in the Motor Carrier Safety Section, Major in the Operational Services Branch, and Lieutenant Colonel at Headquarters since December 2008.
