Grand Opening and Dedication Event
Mountain Resource Center announces opening of new facility
CONIFER, CO - September 29, 2004. Fall is just around the corner and so is the formal dedication celebration for the new Mountain Resource Center (MRC) facility in Conifer, Colorado. Thanks to the generous donations from the community (individuals and businesses), foundations, and corporations, MRC will celebrate a first in the state of Colorado! Save the date and mark your calendars for Saturday, October 23, 2004 (from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm) for a day of music, special activities, refreshments and formal dedication ceremony. The 9,000 log-style facility (designed by Steven Harrison and built by Cliff Dwellings) is located behind the Safeway Center in Conifer at 11030 Kitty Drive in Conifer. The dedication of this multi-purpose facility demonstrates the strength and conviction of local communities to come together to develop needed services by capitalizing on private and public sources of funding. Moreover, the new building marks the end of a twelve year journey to build a permanent center for affordable health and human services to residents in our mountainous community as well as, to develop a center for community activities.
Mountain Resource Center, established in 1992, provides basic and essential health and human services to residents living in Conifer, Evergreen, Bailey, Pine, and surrounding communities. As an unduplicated community-based single point of entry non-profit organization, Mountain Resource Center continues to be the sole provider of essential health and human service programs in its rural community. The Center's has over 65,000 residents living within its 1,000 square mile service area in the western regions of the Jefferson and northern Park Counties. Of the over 6,500 consumers served by Mountain Resource Center in 2003, the vast majority were disadvantaged and at risk with no other services available to them. Of the 2,700 served in just the Family Services program, 90% were eligible for some form of public assistance, with 68% identified at or below the poverty level.
