Former Alma Town Marshal Robert Raskiewicz filed an affidavit on Monday, August 28, to run as a write-in candidate for the office of Park County Sheriff, according to Park County Clerk Debra Green. Raskiewicz will be the fourth candidate for that office and the third Republican to enter the race for Sheriff.
Raskiewicz previously ran as a write-in candidate against incumbent Sheriff Fred Wegener in the 2002 election. He garnered 23.5% of the vote in the general election, losing to Wegener's 76% majority.
Raskiewicz served as Alma Town Marshal from November 2001 until July 2003. In July of 2003, Raskiewicz resigned his position following some personnel issues with the Town Board.
Tuesday, August 29, 2006, was the deadline for filing affidavits for write-in candidates. The slate of candidates for the office of Park County Sheriff now includes Republican incumbent Fred Wegener, Libertarian candidate Roger Easley, write-in candidate and former Undersheriff Don Anthony (R), and write-in candidate Rob Raskiewicz (R).
