SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN TERMINATION OF LIEUTENANT

Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener announced on Wednesday that he has terminated the employment of Lt. Edward Rasch. Rasch has been the subject of an internal investigation commenced three weeks ago following allegations of policy violations and personnel complaints. Jefferson County Division Chief Phil Baca, who is also an attorney, headed the internal investigation. "Due to the seriousness of the allegations, I felt it was prudent to request assistance from an independent, outside agency," said Sheriff Wegener. "The findings of the investigation left me no choice but to terminate [Lt. Rasch's] employment."

The results of the investigation regarding Lt. Rasch were turned over to the District Attorney's Office.

Undersheriff Don Anthony remains on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation into the allegations against him.

Sheriff Wegener added, "I especially want to thank Jefferson County Sheriff Ted Mink and Division Chief Baca for their valuable assistance."
