The duties of the Coroner are varied and complex. A proper investigation of all deaths in the county must be conducted so that families, law enforcement and parties with interest (i.e. insurance, public health, etc) get all the information they need. Other duties include identification, notification of next-of-kin, working with state and federal agencies, conferring with physicians and interfacing with local agencies such as law enforcement, fire, EMS and Search and Rescue.

For the past 14 years, as your Coroner, I have continually upgraded my training and the technology used in investigations and in the office. I am proud to be certified as a Medicolegal Death Investigator through the Colorado Coroners Association and the American Board of Medicolegal Investigators. I am one of only 900 ABMDI certified investigators in the nation. These certifications are conferred, by my peers, based on training, comprehensive exams and experience.

Whether expected or sudden, a death in the family is always traumatic. No matter the circumstances, all family members of the deceased deserve compassion, assistance and timely information. Compassionate attention to their needs enables grieving survivors to go on with their lives and do what needs to be done.

Park County has given me more than I can ever give back. The area was a wonderful place to raise our family. Our daughter Jennie is married and remains in the county. Jackie is in college in Texas but plans to return to Colorado with her degree in agriculture economics. My husband Wayne and I continue to ranch in the Jefferson/Como area.

Giving back to my community is rewarding to me. The Jefferson Community Association, the Como Civic Association, the county 911 Authority, the Central Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, Park County Rural Health and the Park County Emergency Services Council are a few of the groups I enjoy working with as a volunteer and/or officer. I am on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Coroners Association and serve as legislative chairman of that group.
