I have lived in Park County 23 years and have been actively involved for the past 15 years as a member of county advisory boards and a commissioner as well as county and state water organizations. I also participated in community and nonprofit organizations. I have been a small business owner and a correspondent for the Fairplay Flume covering county commissioner and other local, state, and federal meetings relevant to Park County. All of this experience has helped me learn what Park County residents want and need to see happen in this beautiful place we all call home.
I have the background, knowledge, and commitment to build consensus and seek solutions to the challenges facing Park County. I have supported and will continue to support long range planning (and action today) that provides for the sustainability of our water resources, our economic resources, our natural resources, and our historical resources. I strongly support prudent use of our tax dollars that, first and foremost, provide necessary services to our citizens.
As commissioner, I will work to protect your way of life in Park County by:
- Developing and implementing a strong water policy covering quantity and quality to safeguard your most valuable asset - your home - and our natural resources. I will continue to address Park County's water issues at state water organizations.
- Ensuring land use, waste water treatment, 1041 water and wildlife regulations contain no loopholes, are consistently applied, and effectively protect your property values and property rights as well as truly implementing our citizen-based Strategic Master Plan.
- Opening the doors of government and communications with citizens by doing more than just following the "letter of the law' regarding Open Meetings. I will engage in real dialogue, make information more readily accessible, and seek consensus and collaboration among the diverse groups and interests in Park County.
- Lessening your tax burden by reducing the mill levy and developing a "growth must pay its way" policy.
- Ensuring your tax dollars are spent where they are needed and you want them - on the roads, land use violations, and thoughtful management of our resources as well as more thorough oversight for budget efficiency.
- Encouraging private conservation easements and agricultural development, heritage and historic preservation, and economic development that is based on keeping Park County unique.
I ask for your support to serve you as Park County District 2 Commissioner. Soon, I will have a website at www.lyndajames08.com. Feel free to call me or email any questions at 303-838-2178 or lyndajames@earthlink.net.
Thank you,
Lynda
