DENVER,CO (June 2, 2011) – A full day of professional driver education for teen drivers is being offered on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, by the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) as part of their “Responsible Speed” program.

The Responsible Speed program will be taught by CSP officers and is limited to 20 teens. The course is being held at Bandimere Speedway, Morrison. Call the Alive At 25 Administration Office at 720-269-4046 and ask for Course “safespeed25.” Or, use the code to register for the class on the Alive at 25 website. Fee for the full day of training is $39.

Teen must meet all the following requirements: Must be age 16 or older and have a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, a car appropriate for driving skills training, registered owner/parent will need to sign liability. The students will be signing the Bandimere liability waiver -- as will their parents, it they are under age 18.

Young adult drivers will be taught by CSP officers the importance of defensive driving skills, making smart driving choices and choosing to drive responsible speeds. Food and refreshments will be provided free throughout the day by the Brandon & Paul Foundation, PepsiCO Colorado, AAA Colorado, the CSP Family Foundation and Bandimere Speedway.

Parents are invited to attend the opening session and will receive a comprehensive packet of safe driving educational materials for young adult drivers.

The Responsible Speed program is a new approach by the CSP to create a pro-active educational initiative focused on teaching young adults the importance of defensive driving and choosing to drive responsible speeds.

The program is being held in conjunction with the CSP’s Take It To The Track program created eight years ago to provide a positive alternative to illegal street racing by providing teens with a safe, legal and fun environment in which to satisfy their need for speed.
