Shooting Range Fire Update - Harris Park

Shooting Range Fire update.
Crews are just completing handline around the fire at this time.
Size remains 15 acres.
Minimal fire activity at this time.
Fire area closure in place.
Crews are still working hot spots within the fire perimeter.
Cause still under investigation.
The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING for areas of Park County.
All of Park County is under a BURN BAN due to the RED FLAG WARNING.

· Fire investigators on site determined two fire starts.
Shooting Range #1 Fire is .01 acres

Shooting Range #2 Fire is 15 acres

· Crews made good progress today, containment on both fires 80%
· Smoldering continues on the interior of the Shooting Range #2 Fire, mop up operation is in progress.
· Personnel will continue mop up operation tomorrow

· Fire cause continues to be under investigation

Pike National Forest

Park County
Harris Park Fire Closure

“FSR 108 Harris Park Shooting area”

Pursuant to 16 United States Code (U.S.C.) § 551 and 36 Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R.) § 261.50(a), the following acts are prohibited in the Harris Park Closure Area on the South Platte Ranger District of the Pike National Forest, Park County, State of Colorado. (39;31’53.8” N, 105;30’24.5” W) (the restricted area)
Restricted Area is depicted on the attached map hereby incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A.
This Closure Order is necessary to protect the health and safety of the public as well as protect government property during firefighting efforts of the Harris Park Fire.
PROHIBITIONS:
Going into or being upon the Restricted Area. 36 C.F.R. § 261.53(e).
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:
1) Any Federal, State or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force engaged in the performance of an official duty;
2) Persons with a Forest Service permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
This Order will be in effect from May 11, 2018
