Fire Weather Red Flag *Warning* - All of Park County

... Red flag warning in effect from 10 am to 10 PM MDT Thursday
for wind and low relative humidity for fire weather zone
205 below 7500 feet...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a red
flag warning below 7500 feet for wind and low relative humidity,
which is in effect from 10 am to 10 PM MDT Thursday. The Fire
Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Affected area... in Colorado, fire weather zone 205 Colorado
River headwaters below 7500 feet.

* Winds... southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Relative humidity... 10 to 15 percent.

* Impacts... new fire starts may be difficult or impossible to
control due to fast rates of spread. Outdoor burning is
strongly discouraged.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

9 PM MDT this evening for wind and low relative humidity for South
Park and the southern foothills...

* affected area... fire weather zones 214 and 216.

* Timing... late this morning through early this evening.

* Winds... west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Relative humidity... as low as 8 percent.

* Impacts... conditions will be favorable for the rapid growth
and spread of fires.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... .or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior. Outdoor burning is
discouraged. Check with local authorities on any burn bans in
effect.
